₱191-M Davao Sur Farm-to-Market Road to Uplift Farmers, Communities – PRDP
DAVAO CITY – The rehabilitation of a major farm-to-market road (FMR) in Bansalan, Davao del Sur is poised to transform rural connectivity and improve access to essential services for farmers and residents, the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) announced Monday.
The Linawan–Alegre FMR, with a total project cost of ₱191.3 million, forms part of the PRDP’s Scale-Up initiative, which prioritizes farmers as the primary beneficiaries.
“It goes beyond infrastructure development. It is a commitment to uplifting the lives of farmers and rural communities who depend on this road every day,” PRDP said in a statement.
Better Roads, Better Lives
The agency emphasized that improved road networks will:
- Enhance the transport of agricultural produce
- Ensure safer travel for students
- Enable faster access to health facilities
- Expand community access to government services
PRDP noted that these improvements will significantly raise the quality of life for residents of barangays Linawan and Alegre.
Safety and Collaboration
Safety remains a top priority during construction, with strict precautionary measures in place to protect workers and residents.
PRDP highlighted that the rehabilitation reflects strong collaboration among government agencies, private partners, and local communities.
“It reflects the broader mission of PRDP Scale-Up — to expand rural infrastructure, empower local communities, and promote inclusive and sustainable development across the region,” the agency said.
Fast-Tracking Completion
The Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit stressed the need to augment manpower to accelerate rehabilitation works. The project is targeted for completion by the third quarter of this year. (via PNA)
