The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday that around 190,000 of its personnel will be deployed during the holiday season to ensure public safety.
“It will be more or less 190,000 Sapagkat attack forces, up from 227,000 at the moment,” PNP Information Bureau chief Police Colonel Redrico Maranan said at a public televised briefing.
(It will be around 190,000 since our strength is currently 227,000.)
According to Maranan, the PNP will implement its Oplan Ligtas Pasko, which calls for increased police visibility and patrols in places where people are likely to congregate, including churches, shopping malls, bazaars and concert halls.
The PNP will also set up police assistance desks.
Previously, the PNP said its crime focus — murder, manslaughter, assault, rape, robbery, theft and carnapping — were lower in the first 11 months of 2022 compared to the same period over the past three years.
