Tips for a thinner Thanksgiving

As we all know, the holidays are approaching. During this time, excuses about gaining weight keep popping up, and we all need to resist those holiday treats that come to the office on a daily basis! Well this is our chance to say NO and get ready to hold the weight this season. Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy yourself and spend time with friends and family. There are many ways to have fun, but there are also many ways to make wise decisions this Thanksgiving Day!

Here are a few tips and tricks to stay healthy and happy on Turkey Day:

Start your morning with a healthy breakfast to boost your metabolism.

Example: 4 ounces. protein
½ cup oatmeal
1/4 banana

Get your workout early! Challenge yourself HARDER than you normally would; This will help you make healthier choices for the rest of the day!

Here’s an example of a great turkey brandy:

A total of 5 turns

20 pop squats
20 switch lunges (each leg)
10 burpees with tuck jump
20 high jumps
20 alien squats
Optional: Use a 5-pound, 10-pound, or 15-pound dumbbell for higher intensity.

Small portion sizes. When putting together your Thanksgiving plate, start with smaller portions. Most of the time, our eyes are much larger than our stomachs. Stop eating when you start feeling full! This will avoid the miserable feeling of overeating.

ENJOY slowly. When choosing your plate, choose healthier options (if possible) such as whole wheat rolls, sweet potatoes, etc. Make sure to eat slowly and savor the flavor – this will also prevent you from overeating.

Have fun! Take this time to enjoy your family and friends. Don’t stress yourself out because you’re too hard on yourself!

Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy those around us and be thankful for all we have! On this day, try to focus more on weight maintenance than weight loss. It’s ONE day to enjoy yourself, splurge a little and come back refreshed on Friday. One day won’t hurt you as long as you jump RIGHT onto the track again the next day. This Thursday, remember tips for a thinner Thanksgiving… Stay committed and determined and remember “Skye’s the LIMIT”!
