In 2018, South Korea spawned Asia’s first and most successful #MeToo movement. But subsequently, a wave of anti-feminism swept through the country, fueled by young men who feared that women would prevail in their hyper-competitive society. They are annoyed that they have to do their military service, which keeps them from working for up to two years. They have managed to turn feminism into a dirty word that some women are now embarrassed or even afraid to use. But more importantly, they got the President to respond to their battle cries.
