Copperstone Lending Urges Public to Stay Alert as SEC Warns Against Fake Online Lending Apps
Bravo Filipino | Copperstone Lending Urges Public to Stay Alert as SEC Warns Against Fake Online Lending Apps
MANILA, Philippines — Copperstone Lending Inc. is reminding Filipino borrowers to verify online lending applications before providing personal information or entering into financial transactions, following a recent advisory from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) identifying unauthorized lending platforms and fake applications impersonating legitimate financial brands.
The SEC’s latest public advisory last August 20, 2026 highlighted several online lending platforms, mobile applications, and websites that are not recorded with the Commission as authorized online lending platforms (OLPs). The regulator also specifically warned consumers about copycat applications and websites that use the names, logos, brands or identities of legitimate lending and financing companies.
Among the applications identified by the SEC was a fake application impersonating the Moca Moca OLP of Copperstone Lending Inc.
For Copperstone Lending, the advisory underscores the importance of consumer awareness and proper verification when accessing digital financial services.
Copperstone encourages consumers to verify before downloading
Copperstone Lending is urging borrowers to exercise caution when encountering applications or websites claiming to offer Moca Moca services.
Consumers are encouraged to make sure that they are accessing the company’s legitimate and authorized platform and to avoid suspicious links, unofficial application downloads or accounts that cannot be verified through official company channels.
The company also encourages borrowers to check the SEC’s official records when evaluating an online lending platform.
“Consumers should always verify first before downloading an application or sharing personal information,” Copperstone Lending said. “With the growing number of digital financial services available online, taking a few moments to confirm the authenticity of a platform can help protect borrowers from unauthorized operators and online fraud.”
SEC identifies fake Moca Moca application
In its advisory, the SEC specifically identified:
“Moca Moca – Online Lending App” — fake and impersonating the “Moca Moca” OLP of Copperstone Lending Inc.
The identification serves as an important reminder that legitimate brands can also become targets of online impersonation.
Fraudulent operators may use familiar names, logos and branding to create applications or websites that appear connected to established financial companies. Consumers may therefore need to look beyond an application’s name or appearance and verify the source before proceeding.
Copperstone said consumers should be particularly careful when encountering websites, social media accounts or applications that claim to represent Moca Moca but cannot be confirmed through official channels.
Consumer awareness as a first line of defense
Copperstone Lending said it supports the SEC’s continuing efforts to identify unauthorized online lending platforms and protect Filipino consumers from potentially fraudulent digital lending activities.
The company believes that consumer education is an important part of strengthening the digital lending ecosystem.
Borrowers are encouraged to follow several basic precautions:
- Verify the lending company and OLP through official SEC records.
- Use only official and verified channels when accessing a lending platform.
- Check the application developer and other identifying information before downloading.
- Do not provide personal or financial information to unverified applications or websites.
- Report suspicious applications or websites to the SEC and the legitimate company being impersonated.
The SEC maintains an official list of recorded online lending platforms that consumers can consult when verifying an OLP.

Copperstone supports stronger digital lending safeguards
Copperstone Lending said the growing use of online financial services makes it increasingly important for consumers, regulators and legitimate financial companies to work together in preventing digital fraud and brand impersonation.
The company welcomed the SEC’s efforts to identify unauthorized platforms and bring greater awareness to the risks associated with fake applications.
By highlighting the issue, Copperstone hopes to help borrowers recognize the importance of verifying the source of a financial application before providing sensitive information or proceeding with a transaction.
Consumers who encounter suspected unauthorized or fraudulent online lending activities may report them to the SEC through Hotline 14732 (14-SEC) or the Commission’s SEC iMessage Portal.
For Copperstone Lending, the message to borrowers is straightforward: verify first, transact safely, and use only legitimate lending channels. Check the official website at CopperstonePH.com.
As digital lending continues to become part of everyday financial life, consumer awareness remains one of the strongest safeguards against unauthorized applications and online impersonation.
